What is NRP?
“The Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) is an innovative effort to bring residents into the priority-setting process of their city. It is based on the belief that the empowerment of residents and the mobilization of untapped resources, energy and creativity can make our progressive vision of the future a reality.”
—Robert D. Miller, Minneapolis NRP Director
In 1998, the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association (LYNAS) developed the first phase of its Action Plan under the city’s fledging Neighborhood Revitalization Program. NRP provided $1,016,683 to fund the Action Plan’s initiatives to improve parks, the environment, safety, home and business exteriors, Burroughs School, and to build a sense of community through events and improved communications.
Having successfully accomplished its Phase I goals, LYNAS is preparing to move on to the second phase of its NRP plan, albeit with reduced funding and less latitude in how the funds may be spent.
If you’re a Lynnhurst resident or your business is located in the neighborhood, watch for upcoming announcements on how you can get involved in the planning process for Phase II of the NRP Action Plan.
